SEUOL: Samsung is going to launch the Galaxy S6. But with the a great deal anticipated Smartphone launching in March, the company’s security now has more holes than Swiss cheese.
Consequently we now have both our first good look at the Galaxy S6 and exciting news about its radical ‘Edge’ display sibling.
First the images which come via CNet Korea. The site obtained them via “a South Korean electronics distributor” and they show five handsets: two of the so-called Galaxy S6 Edge and three of the standard Galaxy S6, two of which are in protective cases.
As such the real interest lies in the flat backed Galaxy S6 on the far left and two images of the Galaxy S6 Edge on the right. The shots confirm a shift to a flatter back, more premium build materials and an even thinner design. It also appears that Samsung has reduced the top and bottom screen bezels compared to the Galaxy S5.
On the flip side both the S6 and Edge variant show Samsung will continue its tradition of having significantly protruding rear cameras, a predictable occurrence given the expected step up from a 13 megapixel to 20 megapixel sensor.
Arguably more interesting, however, is looking at the far right image of the Edge as it appears the wraparound display may extend to both sides given the absence of any bezel.
While this is inconclusive, SamMobile claims it is now in a position to exclusively confirm that the Galaxy S Edge will indeed have wraparound displays on both sides of the phone. It also states that:
“The Edge screens will be 30 to 50 percent less curved than the Edge display on the Galaxy Note Edge, because of the smaller size of the handset and because of the volume and power buttons on the sides, and both curves will be completely uniform.
SamsungMobile has established a very strong track record with leaks over the last year and, assuming it is right again, the Galaxy S Edge will look and operate like no other phone…
