SEOUL: Samsung will launch Galaxy S6 and a variant with a curved display called Galaxy S6 Edge. While the South Korean giant is doing everything it can including poking fun at itself to hype up the unveiling, not everything is rosy.
According to ArsTechnica’s sources, Samsung is facing production issues with the curved display that is going to be the USP of the Galaxy S6 Edge. Only a third of the Galaxy S6 being shipped to carriers is the variant with the curved display. It will be interesting to see how Samsung works around this problem, considering all its marketing and teasers have been around the curved display.
In the meantime, from what fans hear, the Galaxy S6 is likely to feature a 5.1-inch QHD display, an Exynos 7 Octa processor and 4GB of RAM. It is also expected to include 32GB internal storage, 20-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie snapper, and run on Android Lollipop out-of-the-box.
The Galaxy S6 Edge too is likely to boast similar features, but its USP will be the curved display. Unlike the Galaxy Note Edge, the forthcoming smartphone will have the display sloping on both sides.
