Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One (M8) taken off Google Play Store, e-store becoming extinct

LONDON: It looks like Google’s Play Store Edition line is becoming extinct, as another device has been taken off the e-store this time, and we’re talking about the HTC One (M8) GPE. This is some very sad news, and it’s not the first time something like this has happened, more or less marking the end of the GPE devices.

Google took the Samsung Galaxy S4 off their Play Store earlier this month. We predicted that GPE devices would go extinct back then, and sadly, that speculation might be coming true.

This removal pretty much marks the death of the Google Play Store, and the worst thing is that we don’t even know why. Google has yet to provide a real reason for why they’re taking these devices off the Google Play Store, and they haven’t officially announced that the service is shutting down either.

Perhaps the tech company will put up more devices on their Play Store in the future, however there’s no explanation as to why they aren’t keeping the current ones. The difference between a regular version and a GPE device is that the GPE gadget is pure and runs stock Android, plus it doesn’t come with any sort of bloatware installed.

Many tech enthusiasts have been using Google’s Play Store due to its ease of use and wide availability.

The death of GPE devices is also hinted at through certain broken promises. Google told us that they would release the Samsung Galaxy S5 GPE last year, but that never happened. The only devices left on the Google Play Store are the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, and Nexus 9, but who knows for how long.

This news is extremely sad, but we want to remain positive and hope that Google will continue to support GPE devices.

Tell us how you feel about this decision by leaving a comment, and tell us any speculation you might have involving the Google Play Store’s future.
