Samsung halts sales for its latest 128GB variant of Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in India

NEW DELHI: From the looks of it, Samsung may have discontinued or halted sales for its latest 128GB variant of Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in India. These devices were launched in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB inbuilt storage variants back in April. But now, only the 32GB and 64GB storage versions are listed on the Samsung India website.

The ‘Tech Specs’ section on the website only shows the 32GB and 64GB storage variants as well. At the moment, it is unclear as to why the company has taken this action. One reason could be poor sales due to the exorbitant prices of the devices.

At the time of launch the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were priced at Rs. 61,900 and Rs, 70,900 respectively. A report by GsmArena points out that the 128GB variant for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge has been discontinued in the Netherlands too.

Currently, Samsung may be on the move to unveil new devices in the market. After a string of rumours revealing the specs and features of Galaxy Note 5 and Edge Plus (edge+), a new report finally reveals the launch dates. According to a report by Samsung tipster SamMobile, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Edge Plus (edge+) are expected to be announced on August 12, and will be up for grabs starting 21 August. Along with these devices, the company will also announce Samsung Pay, apparently starting with only the US market.

We aren’t really sure what’s Samsung’s strategy behind releasing two premium handsets at the same time, considering the probability of the more popular Note series eating into the Edge sales.
