NEW YORK: Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy A7 smartphone to compete with iPhone 6 Plus of Apple.
The new 5.5-inch phone runs Google’s Android platform and is noteworthy for the use of a metal body rather than the usual plastic.
The South Korean manufacturer began shifting to more premium materials last year with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Alpha and continued with the Galaxy A3 and A5 handsets.
However, the Galaxy A7 isn’t intended as a replacement for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 – or the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 flagship – but rather an additional phone in Samsung’s ever burgeoning line-up.
