SEOUL: The Samsung has planed that fog is beginning to lift on Samsung’s next major flagship hone launch. The company is jumping into full promo mode, renaming its Samsung Mobile, Twitter account TheNextGalaxy and tweeting a teaser video.
While the video doesn’t show any actual hardware, the biggest clue is that @SamsungMobile’s Twitter logo is now a camera icon. We’ll take that to mean Samsung will be telling us how awesome its next smartphone camera will be when it shows off the phone at its Unpacked event March 1 in Barcelona. We’ll be there to cover it, along with all the big announcements from Mobile World Congress.
The other key piece of Galaxy news we’re looking forward to is what the Galaxy S6 Edge will look like. A report this week indicated this Galaxy phone would have curved glass on both sides, instead of just the right edge as seen on the Galaxy Note Edge
Another rumor that caught our eye was an internal Samsung memo blacking out employee vacations from March 22 through March 30 and April 19 through the 27. Should that be true, you may not have to wait long to get your hands on Samsung’s next phones for yourself.
We’re looking forward to testing out how the newest Exynos processor fares after finding out Samsung was ditching Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810.
The story behind the story: The Galaxy S6 (and presumably the S6 Edge) is a critical phone launch for Samsung. The company’s falling profits and increasing competition from other players in the Android space, like Motorola, LG, and HTC, make it imperative that to hit a grand slam with its next phone.
