The Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S5 LTE-A, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, and other smartphones will get the latest version of Android early next year, Samsung said in a statement, and other model support will be expanded later on.

The South Korean tech giant promised that new models such as the Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy Alpha, as well as the Galaxy Tab S and other tablets, will also receive the Lollipop environment.

Earlier on Thursday, Galaxy S5 owners in Poland started receiving Lollipop. A Samsung spokesman said that other regions will receive the upgrade soon.

“We have thoroughly reviewed the stability of the operating system for our customers to get the best user experience on their smartphones,” said the spokesman.

Samsung highlighted the change in the UX design that will follow the upgrade, and the Galaxy Note 4 will have its background colour changed to white from black, with the UX more “lively and simplified”.

Galaxy S5 users in South Korea can download Lollipop using the preinstalled Kies mobile management program.
