NEW YORK: Last month, Samsung has announced to be working on its entry level smartphone named the Galaxy J1 in addition to getting ready to initiate its upcoming flagship device, the Samsung Galaxy S6. Smartphone has been and will reportedly be the 1st of many devices falling into the Galaxy J series, which features an affordable price tag.

Based on reports and leaked images, the Galaxy J1 strongly resembles the remainder of the Galaxy lineup of smartphones. Since it will be targeted toward emerging markets. It will allegedly be equipped with low-end hardware specifications, starting with a 64-bit quad-core processor present in a marvell PXA1908 chipset. The processor’s base clock speed will be 1.2 GHz. It will also possess a 4.3-inch TFT LCD display, radiating a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.

With 1 GB of RAM, multi-tasking operations will be quite limited. A 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera will be added, along with 4 GB of internal storage. Users will be able to expand that modicum amount of storage through the use of a microSD card. Since the Galaxy J1 will be targeted to entry level markets, it will also be fitted with a smaller battery capacity of 1850 mAh.

However, one of the surprising features said to be incorporated in the Galaxy J1 is LTE connectivity. It will reportedly possess LTE and non-LTE versions, with both models featuring single and dual SIM capabilities.

Galaxy J1 will not be running Android Lollipop 5.0 out-of-the-box but will instead run Google’s previous operating system update, KitKat version 4.4.4.
