Mianwali ASO seizes smuggled animal skins, non-duty paid truck

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Mianwali has seized smuggled animal skin worth Rs 7 million during a raid involving customs duty and taxes of Rs 42,3731. While the ASO team also impounded  a non-duty paid truck  worth Rs 50,00,000 bearing registration no. Z- 8313 (Peshawar), model 1989 which was being used for transportation of smuggled skins from Afghanistan to Kasur.

Sources told Customs Today, that Collector Choudhary Zulfikar Ali received information about some smuggling attempts. He formed an ASO team comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Sardar Muhammad, Inspectors Muhammad Umar Bhatti, Azhar Hussain Jafri, Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Ameen, Ziaul Hassan, Muhammad Riaz (sepoys).

The team intercepted above mentioned truck near Dawood khel Kalabagh road Mianwali. The ASO team asked the suspect, who were identified as Muhammad Sabir son of Khoza Jan (driver), and owner Noor Mat Khan son of Nawab Khan to produce legal documents regarding possession of goods. He produced a copy of GD No. 2164 and bilty No, 64 issued by Muhammad Hussain Goods Transport Co Karam Agency but mained failed to show any other legal documents in this regard.

After his failure, the ASO team seized the goods and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
