FAISALABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations (I&I) Field Investigation Unit (FIU) Sarai Muhajir impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Vitz car worth Rs2 million.
Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Director Rana Irfan Shoukat received a tip-off about some non-duty paid vehicles which are plying on roads. He constituted a team comprising intelligence officer Muhammad Irshad Muhammad Anwar and Asad Iqbal, Hafiz Muhammad Usman, Shakoor Ahmed, Muhammad Abbas, Muhammad Irfan and Muhammad Khalil.
The FIU team intercepted the said Toyota Vitz car bearing registration no: LWH-37 model 2005 and 996 CC near Kundian Mor district Mianwali and asked the driver Muhammad Rafiullah to produce the legal documents regarding the possession of the vehicle but he failed to do so. The officials impounded the vehicle under Section 18 32 of the Customs Act 1969 read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act 1969.
The FIU Sarai Muhajir team impounded the Vitz car and forwarded the case to the customs adjudication for legal proceeding.
