Sara-i-Muhajir FIU seizes bitumen metal drums, Nisaan truck

SARA-I-MUJAHIR: The Anti-Smuggling Organization Field Intelligence Unit on Saturday confiscated smuggled bitumen packed in metal drums worth Rs4,477,239 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs537,747 during a road checking and impounded an oil tanker valued at Rs6,000,000.

According to details, the Sara-i-Muhajir team following the directions of Assistant Collector Shah Samad Hamdani conducted a raid to foil a smuggling attempt in the region.

The Customs team impounded Nissan trailer bearing registration No JU-8445 near Sara-i Muhajir Chowk M.M Road district Bhakkar loaded with foreign origin bitumen packed in metal 240-drums weighting 57,085 kilograms.

The officials asked driver named who was later identified as Farhat Ali for showing documents regarding the legal import of the item but he failed to do so. The officials impounded the item under Section 18 32 of the Customs Act 1969 read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act 1969. However seizure report has been submitted to the Adjudication Department for further legal action.
