Sarai Muhajir FIU seizes smuggled items worth Rs17.40m

FAISALABAD: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) Sarai Muhajir confiscated foreign origin items worth Rs 17.40 million and also impounded Hino truck during a raid.

Sources told Customs Today that FIU Sarai Muhajir Deputy Collector Amjad Aman Laghari received reliable information from its source that smuggled copra ground nuts oats seeds and would be smuggled through a Hino truck.

The team intercepted a Hino truck bearing registration no LES-14-1832 near Sarai Mohajir Chowk district Bhakkar. The official checked the Hino truck and recovered foreign origin copra 1715 kilograms ground nuts 3020 kilograms oats seeds 7480 kilogram and others.

During the course of checking the driver produced a copy of Goods Declaration GDs and informed that said goods were booked from Karachi against different truck bilities. The goods were checked with the bilities and found irrelevant. Therefore all goods were taken into Customs custody under section 16 18 of the Customs Act 1969.

The ASO team after finding some discrepancies seized the goods and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
