Sardar Mehtab forms committees to initiate economic activities in Fata

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan has formed two committees to initiate economic activities in Federal Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

The committees would prepare a feasibility report of establishing warehouses, cold storages and industrial estates in the area and would present the report to governor within a month.

The first committee to accelerate the economic development in FATA under the chairmanship of the president TEVTA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nauman Wazir is comprised of Secretary P&D FATA, president TCCI, Shahid rehman, Chartered accountant, Dilroz Khan, Chief Executive FDA, Fida Muhammad Wazir, Ex-president TCCI, Riaz Arshad, Director SMEDA, Adeel Rauf, provincial chief SMEDA, Javed Khattak, Manager M&E, FDA, Faheem Muhammad and the additional secretary AI&C.

The second committee to look into the matters of establishment of warehouses and industrial estates in FATA headed by Chief Executive FATa Development Authority is comprised of secretary P&D FATA as convener, Additional secretary FIFA, Manager M&E FDA, President Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI), President Tribal Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TACCI), Representative of Lhyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment, Ex-member of KPCCI, Sajjad Ahmad, Ex-President KPCCI, Adeel Rauf, and Chartered Accountant, Saeed ur Rehman. If required, more members can also be added to the committee.

The committees are mandated to suggest way forward for bringing investment and business to FATA at an accelerated pace and to suggest expeditious ways of introducing an improved business regulatory regime suited to FATA’s peculiar environment. It will have the authority to recommend an incentive and rebate package for boosting investment in Federal Administered tribal Areas. The committee may also co-opt any member and if necessary to interact with Federal board of revenue.
