Sargodha ASO confiscates foreign origin silk cloth, vehicle worth Rs1.3m

FAISALABAD: Sargodha Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized foreign origin art silk cloth along with Toyota Corolla car worth Rs1.6 million involved in duty/ taxes of Rs1.3 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Rizwan khan received information regarding the smuggling of clothes from Nushara to Sargodha. On this he establishe a team to foil the smuggling bid.

During the checking vehicles the team intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No. RIB-184 near Shaeen chowk argodha. While the checking of the vehicle customs officials recovered silk clothes (580-kg ).

The official asked the driver namely Arshad Riaz son of Shamsh Ul Haq residential Tehsil and District Noshera to show documents regarding the legal import of the clothes. but, he could not provide any valid document on the spot. Therefore, the cloth was seized along with the vehicle under Section 168 and 157(2) of the Customs Act, 1969.

The ASO team comprising superintendent Choudhary Muhammad sardar Inspector Nazar Hussain, Bashir Ahmed, Sepoys Abdul Hameed, Muhammad Feroz, Muhammad Abdullah, Muhammad Ashraf, Shafqat Mehmood, Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Mansha and others participated in the raid.
