Sargodha ASO confiscates silk cloth, vehicle

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Sargodha, has seized foreign origin silk cloth along with carrier, Toyota Corolla car worth Rs 1.42 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 140,757.

ASO Deputy Collector Falik Sher received information regarding the smuggling of cloth from Rawalpindi to Sargodha and made a team to foil the smuggling bid. The team intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No. LEC-4267 near Luck More, Sargodha.

During checking, the officials recovered silk cloth on which they asked the driver Muhammad Bilal to show documents regarding the legal import of the cloth. But, he could not provide any valid documentary evidence on the spot; therefore, the cloth was seized along with the vehicle under Section 168 and 157(2) of the Customs Act, 1969.

The ASO team comprising Inspector Nazar Hussain, Bashir ahmed, Sepoys Abdul Hameed, Muhammad Feroz, Muhammad Abdullah, Muhammad Ashraf, Shafqat Mehmood, Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Mansha and others participated in the raid.

The seizure report has been sent to competent adjudication authority for decide the matter.
