Sargodha ASO confiscates smuggled goods during crackdown

FAISALABAD: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) Sargodha has seized foreign origin miscellaneous items worth Rs9,25,000 involving duty and taxes to the tune of Rs1,44,978.

Sources told Customs Today, that Assistant Collector Shah Samad Hamadani received a tip off that non duty paid or smuggled items are being transported to Jhang city. The ASO team reached the place pointed out by the informer and held a naka near Bhera Interchange under the supervision of Superintendent Chaudhary Muhammad Sardar and impounded Suzuki no: TT-995. The ASO team found tyres, air filters, oil filter, oil drum, batteries and other goods lying on the roadside.

The team asked Muhammad Tariq Mehmood son of Shenchi Khan to produce documents regarding the legal import of the items. But he could not provide any proof of the import on the spot. The officials seized the goods under the customs by laws.

The ASO team comprising Inspector Malik Atif Mumtaz, Bashir Ahmed and sepoys Hafiz Naseer Ahmad, Manzoor Hussain, Shafqat Mehmood foiled the smuggling bid collectively.
