Sargodha ASO impounds non-duty paid Toyota Hilux Surf

FAISALABAD: The customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Sargodha, has impounded foreign origin Toyota Hilux Surf bearing registration no AJKF-8137 model 1993 worth Rs 2 million involving custom duty and taxes of Rs 11,39395.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan received information regarding some smuggling attempts. On this, he formed an ASO team under the supervision of Superintendent Chaudhary Muhmmad Sardar, which also included Inspectors Anser Saleemi, Bashir Ahmed, Amir Ali, and sepoys Muhammad Ashraf, Hafiz Nasir Ahmed, Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Iqbal and Shafqat Mehmood.

During the checking vehicles the team intercepted Toyota Hilux Surf near Factory Area Road Sargodha city. The ASO team asked the driver who was identify his name Muhammad Yousaf Sadiqee Son of Ahmed baksh residential in Corporation Town, Sargodha to produce legal documents regarding the possession of the vehicle but he failed to show any legal documents.

It was revealed through initial interrogations that the vehicle was brought into country without paying of customs-duty and taxes. The impounded vehicle was also presented in the forensic science laboratory (FSL) Islamabad for Lab.  The ASO team seized the vehicle under section 168 of the Customs Act 1969 and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
