Sargodha ASO impounds non-duty paid Toyota Land Cruiser

FAISALABAD: The customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Sargodha has seized foreign origin Toyota Land Cruiser bearing registration No, B-1948, model 1993 worth Rs1.6 million involving custom duty and taxes to the tune of Rs1.3 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan received information regarding some smuggling attempts. He formed an ASO team under the supervision of Superintendent Choudhary Muhmmad Sardar included Inspectors Anser Saleemi, Bashir Ahmed, Amir Ali, and Muhammad Ashraf, Hafiz Nasir ahmed, Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Iqbal, Shafqat mehmood sepoys.

The ASO team started the checking of vehicles at Girls College Road, Sargodha and intercepted a Toyota Land Cruiser. The ASO team asked owner identified by Samiullah son of Abdul Ghafoor residential in Hujra Shah Muqeem Tehsil Depal Pur district Okara to produce legal documents regarding the possession of the vehicle but he failed to show any legal documents. The ASO team impounded the vehicle under section 168 of the Customs Act1969 and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
