Sargodha ASO impounds non duty paid vehicle

SARGODHA: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization on Friday impounded a foreign origin used Honda City car worth Rs 5 million involving customs duty and taxes to the tune of Rs2.8 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Mirza Mubashir Baig received information about smuggling of the said car. During checking of vehicles, the ASO team intercepted a Honda car without affixed registration number plate model 2003 in blue color near Session Road Sargodha.

Sources said that the ASO staff asked the owner of M/s Farooq Auto Workshop Session Road Muhammad Nadeem Javed to produce any documents showing the legal import and lawful possession but he failed to do so. During the investigation, it revealed that the said vehicle brought into the country without payment of customs duty and taxes through an unauthorized route.

Therefore the said vehicle was taken into the customs possession and notice under section 187 of the Customs Act 1969 and recovery memo was prepared in presence of two witnesses.
