Sargodha ASO seizes auto parts, vehicle during crackdown

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Sargodha, has confiscated foreign origin smuggled auto parts worth Rs3,46,500 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 88,449 besides impounding the offending vehicle worth Rs 10,00,000.

According to details, Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan received information that auto parts would be smuggled from Rawalpindi to Sargodha through Khushab without the payment of duty and taxes.

After receiving information, Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan constituted a raiding team comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Muhammad Sardar, Inspector Maher Ameer Ali, Ansar Saleemi, Bashir Ahmad, Sepoy Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Imran, Mehmood Muhammad Feroz and Muhammad Mansha.

The ASO staff intercepted a vehicle Hundai dala bearing registration no LES-523 near Salam Interchange Sargodha and recovered auto parts during searching of vehicle.

The ASO team asked the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Iftikhar Ahmed son of Muhammad Sharif resident of Lahore Road Chiniot, to produce legal documents regarding the import of the items.but he failed to show any documents regarding the legal import; therefore the officials confiscated auto parts along with vehicle.
