Sargodha ASO seizes compressors, Mazda truck worth Rs 6.3m

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Sargodha, has seized foreign origin used compressors along with carrier vehicle worth Rs 6.343 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 581,693 during an action.

Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan received information that smuggled items were being brought into the country without payment of duty and taxes on which he formed a team.

The ASO team intercepted Mazda truck bearing Registration No LES-14-7691, which was coming from Lahore to Sargodha, near Abdullah Colony Bismillah Bakri Bus Stand, Sargodha and recovered compressors.

The team asked the driver named Muhammad Hanif son Muhammad Latif to produce documents regarding legal import of the items. He showed a receipt No 2639 issued by Nasir Pak Ghosia Goods Transport Company Ravi Link Road, Lahore but he could not show documents regarding legal import of the items. Therefore, the team impounded the vehicle and recovered items, besides registering a case against him.

The raiding party comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Sardar Muhammad, Inspector Bashir Ahmed, Anser Saleemi, Mehar Ameer Ali, Sepoys Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Iqbal, Hafiz Naseer Ahmad, Muhammad Shafqat Mehmood, Sardar Hussain and Muhammad Mansha foiled the smuggling bid.
