Sargodha ASO seizes non duty paid air compressor, Hino truck

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) Sargodha has seized foreign origin air compressor and also impounded carrier vehicle. The estimated value of the smuggled items is Rs27,00,000 involving duty and tax worth Rs3,10,368.

Sources told Customs Today, that the ASO received information through Collector Muhammad Sadiq that smuggled air compressor were being brought into the country without paying custom duty and taxes.

Following the information, the ASO team comprising Superintendent Choudhary Muhammad Sardar, Inspector Atif Mumtaz, Bashir Ahmed and sepoys Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Mansha, Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Imran, started checking of vehicles near Wegowal Toll Plaza Khushab Road Sargodha. During checking the ASO team intercepted a Hino truck bearing registration No, P-4406 loaded with air compressor.

The ASO team asked the accused driver Main Muhammad Ramzan son of Surkhru Khan to provide documents regarding possession and transporting of above said items. But the driver remained failed. The ASO team seized the items under section 168 of the Customs Act 1969 for violation of section 2(s), 16, 18 of the Customs Act 1969. The ASO team arrested the accused driver and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication department.
