Sargodha ASO seizes non duty paid diesel generator, Mazda truck

SARGODHA: The Anti Smuggling Organization of Sargodha seized foreign origin diesel generator worth Rs 5,58,000 involving customs duty and taxes Rs 144060. The ASO team also impounded carrier vehicle Mazda mini truck worth Rs1,00,000 being used for smuggling.

According to details, Deputy Collector Usman Tariq received information about the said smuggled generator. The customs authorities established a check post under the supervision of Superintendent Muhammad Javed Mehmood. The team intercepted a Mazda truck bearing registration number: LES- 1546 under section of Customs Act 1969 near Toll Plaza Bhera Interchange with foreign origin generator (35- KVA) made in France.

The ASO team asked the driver of the vehicle Shakeel Khan to produce legal documents of the generator but he remained failed to produce any legal documents regarding legal import of generator.  So the ASO team seized the generator and vehicle on the spot.

The Anti Smuggling Organization Sargodha superintendent also registered a case against the accused and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
