Sargodha ASO seizes non duty paid generator, vehicle

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Sargodha has seized a 100-KVA foreign origin generator. The market value of the seized generator is Rs 22,00,000 involving duty taxes Rs 5,54,620 and also impounded Mazda truck on Friday.

Sources told Customs Today, that Collector Mirza Mubashir Baig received secret information that a generator is being transported from Lahore to Faisalabad through Mazda truck bearing registration no: LES-08-5710 without payment of duty and taxes.

He immediately formed ASO team comprising Superintendent Choudhary Sardar Muhammad, Inspectors Malik Atif Mumtaz, Bashir Ahmed, and Sepoys Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Mansha and Naeem Ullah.

The ASO team intercepted the truck near Siyal Mor Sargodha and asked driver who was identified as Manzoor Hussain to produce legal documents regarding possession of generator but he failed to provide any relevant documents. ASO team seized the generator and vehicle and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
