Sargodha ASO seizes smuggled goods worth Rs5.5m

SARGODHA: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) confiscated foreign origin goods and vehicle worth Rs 16.4 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Assistant Collector Zaheer Ahmed formed a team to conduct raid. The team established a check-post near Bhera Interchange and intercepted a Mazda truck bearing registration no: FDS-18-8844 and recovered different non-duty paid goods of Chinese origin.

The ASO team asked the owner who was later identified as Nahid Shahid to produce documents regarding legal possession of the items, but they failed to provide any relevant documents.

The ASO team comprising Inspector Irfan Mumtaz, Mehmood Ahmed Dogar, Havaldar Rana Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Mansha and Sepoy Hafiz Nasir Ahmed, Shafqat Mehmood Muhammad Imran confiscated the goods under the customs laws. The ASO after seizing the items forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
