Sargodha FIU seizes merchandise items worth Rs5.3m

FAISALABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation detained huge quantity of foreign origin general merchandise goods worth Rs2.9 million near Jhal Chakian.

Sources told Customs Today, Deputy Director Rana Irfan Shouqat received information from an informer that huge quantity of foreign origin smuggled and non-customs paid goods will be smuggled through jurisdiction.

Deputy Director Rana Irfan Shouqat informed his field intelligence staff to form special team comprising Intelligence Officer Qaswar Shah, havaldar Sajjad Ahmed, sepoy Ghulam Muhammad Niazi, Khalil Ahmed, Shakeel Mazari, Muhammad Tariq, Muhammad Muzamil, driver Muhammad Aslam, and others to thwart any attempt of smuggling.

Field Intelligence Unit Sargodha enhanced patrolling of different routes of Sargodha to intercept them by deputing staff at entrance of different points for strict vigilance.

Customs Intelligence staff intercepted a truck bearing registration no: RNE-8505 loaded with new long march LM 268 Regroovable with tube and Langoti size 11.00 R-20 radial steel tube type made in China and new firestone for light trucks, tubeless steel belted radial made in Thailand size 205R14C which was loaded on truck in their action.

Customs Intelligence staff asked driver Muhammad Ibrahim to produce documents regarding legal import of the recovered goods. Customs Intelligence teams seized said goods under Customs Act 1969. Further investigations are still under process.
