Sargodha FIU seizes non duty paid Mazda truck

SARGODHA: The Customs Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) Sargodha has seized foreign origin F/O non customs paid Mazda truck Worth Rs 8 million involving duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 2.9 million during a successful raid.

Sources told to Customs Today, that FIU team intercepted a Mazda truck bearing registration no: LES-13-465 near Bypass Chowk Sargodha. The FIU team checked the vehicle were found tempered Mazda truck model 1997 as per seat belt Chassis No, WG17H-120975, Engine No, TF 124644 Engine Capacity 4100 CC brought into country through un authorized way.

The team asked the owner namely as Attaul Qadoos son of Abdul Rehman residential Kot Nawab Shah near Shah Taj Colony Mandi Bahauddin to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle. He provided a different bilty issued by M/s Tayyab Goods Agency showing clearance of different items. There was no arrangement for thorough search of vehicle. Therefore, the vehicle was brought in intelligence office.

Later, the FIU team seized the items under Section 16 of the Customs Act 1969 and 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1)90 of the Customs Act 1969 and forwards the case to Customs Adjudication.
