CAPETOWN: South African Customs seized illegal cosmetic with a street value of R200,000 in international market. The suspects were nabbed and appeared before the Eerstehoek Magistrate’s Court at Elukwatini.
The police received a tip off from a community member and then acted on the information and rushed to the alleged vehicle with no time police caught the two Swazi nationals. They questioned the two men concerning the goods but they were tongue tied and could not give satisfactory answers about the luggage.
The police went on to inspect their passports as well as the Custom notification documents to prove that they were authorized to cross the border with the goods and that the vehicle was duly inspected. The driver’s passport was not stamped for exit at the border and that raised even more suspicions for the police. The suspects were granted R10,000 bail each and the case postponed to 09 April 2015, pending further investigation.
