RIYADH: Authorities in Saudi Arabia have established United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facilities at airports in Riyadh and Jeddah, a newspaper report has revealed. According to a report in the Okaz newspaper, the facility is already proving to be very useful.
“The process has started to help the passengers departing from Saudi territories to the United States, in finalizing the procedures at the Immigration Inspection, as well as customs clearance before their departure,” sources told the newspaper.
Abu Dhabi International was the first airport in the Gulf region to establish a CBP office. Having cleared CBP, guests can check-through their baggage to their final destination in the US.
When they arrive, they are treated as domestic passengers, meaning they will save time connecting to other flights or on to their final destination. The CBP allows those traveling to the US, Canada, and 38 other countries. The service saves a lot of time as it typically requires less than 60 seconds to complete the clearance.
