MANAMA: Shammari said that the ban also covered the export of Iranian goods through Saudi Arabia. The BCCI spokesman said the chamber was in favor of stability and supporting national economies of the Gulf states. He positively assessed the efforts of six Arab monarchies to ensure economic growth and development.

Iran and Saudi Arabia cut off diplomatic relations in January after Riyadh had executed top Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr along with 42 other people convicted of terrorism. Nimr demanded more rights for Shiites, who are a minority in Saudi Arabia.
