RIYADH: The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has banned the import of live birds, hatching eggs and chicks temporarily from the Republic of Vietnam due to bird flu disease.
A press statement by Director General of Department of Animal and Plant Quarantine Osama bin Abdullah Al-Saleh said on Sunday that the ban came due to the warning issued by the World Organization for Animal Health. He added that many cases of the bird flu disease were detected, pointing out that the ban will remain until it is confirmed that the disease has completely disappeared.
