RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has today suspended imports of infant milk and byproducts manufactured by French Lactalis Nutrition Santé at its Caron plant. The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) announced the ban until the French company provides a corrective plan to deal with the cause of the Salmonella Agona –infected infant milk.
The Saudi health authorities had issued a statement cautioning against the possible infection of the French infant milk products with the Salmonella Agona bacteria, which may pose a threat to children’s health. The French company has announced its biggest recall ever, a few days ago, of products aimed for export to some 30 countries, including to China, and overall represented more than 12 million baby food tins.
