JEDDAH: Customs authorities of Saudi Arabia have decided to impose ban on the import of all types of pepper from India.
As per details, Saudi customs have imposed an import restriction on pepper from India on presence of high levels of pesticides.
Chili peppers are one of India’s largest foreign currency earners and India has exported 181,500 tons of chilli peppers worth $3 million between April and November last year.
Moreover, Indian commerce ministry official said that due to some incidence of pest infestation in potatoes consignments imported from India, the Russia has also warned on the imposition of restrictions.
