RIYADH: Saudi border customs inspectors seized nearly 1,750 liquor bottles hidden in four separate vehicles which tried to cross the border from the UAE. Sabq newspaper said 693 bottles were found hidden in a truck which was crossing the Bataha border point into Saudi Arabia.
It quoted customs director Abdul Rahman Al Muhana as saying the remaining bottles were found concealed in three other cars that were travelling to Saudi Arabia. “They were all hidden expertly under the bottom of the vehicles or inside doors. The stuff was confiscated and measures were taken against the smugglers,” he said. Liquor is strictly banned in Saudi Arabia.
