MUSCAT: Saudi investors have showed their full interest in setting up operations in the Special Economic Zone of Duqm in Oman, according to feedback received at a recent event here the other day.
The visit by the Saudi delegation, which took place during the recent two-day Omani- Saudi Investment and Trade Forum, highlighted that Saudi investors consider that there are numerous opportunities to operate effectively in numerous economic sectors from the Zone, which was created in 2011.
The Zone provides several incentives, such as a waiver or reduction in corporate tax and customs duties, duty-free sales to domestic and Gulf Cooperation Council markets, 100 percent foreign ownership, and free repatriation of profits and capital.
One of the delegates, Ahmed Saeed Ba Hatheq, CEO of Saudi Innova for Health Care, said that he was impressed with the projects already being undertaken in Duqm. He said the zone has promise for investors, including those in the health services sector.
