SBP introduces SMS service for issuance of fresh currency notes

MULTAN: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has started its new service to facilitate general public in association with the Pakistan Banks Association (PBA) for the issuance of fresh currency notes on SMS through cell phone.

As per details, fresh currency notes are now available at the nominated e-branches of commercial banks of Multan City. Under this facility, a person will be required to send an SMS comprising CNIC number along with the desired bank branch code to 8877.

The SBP Multan office has directed the group heads of operations of all commercial banks in the South Punjab for supply of fresh currency notes to general public and uninterrupted availability of ATM services during Eid holidays.

Chief Manager SBP Multan, Ashraf Khokar told Customs Today that bank was facilitating the 2400 general people daily but the crowd was increasing with the every passing day for acquiring fresh currency notes.
