SC to hear 17 tax references today

ISLAMABAD: A three-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) will hear 17 tax references on Tuesday field offices of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

SC Bench comprising Chief Justice, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Maqbool Baqar would hear the tax references.

According to cases details, Commissioner Inland Revenue, Legal Division, RTO-III had filed a case against Mst Yasmeen Bano; Munawar Ali, Mst Tahira Bano, Ghulam Muhammad; Commissioner (Legal) Inland Revenue had filed cases against M/s. Lalazar Shipping Private Limited; Commissioner Inland Revenue had filed cases against M/s Bolan Shipping Private Limited, M/s Multan Shipping Private Limited, M/s Makran Shipping Private Limited, M/s Islamabad Shipping Private Limited, M/s Khairpur Shipping Private Limited, M/s Hyderabad Shipping Private Limited and its Chairman, M/s Chitral Shipping Private Limited, M/s Khairpur Shipping Private Limited, M/s Chitral Shipping Private Limited, M/s Sibi Shipping Private Limited, M/s. Makran Shipping Private Limited and its Chairman.

M/s. Lalazar Shipping Private Limited had also filed a casea against Commissioner of Income Tax. The same bench had heard a number of cases on Monday too. Amongst the cases, a Custom Dutyrefernce was filed by Directorate General Intelligence & investigation against Muhammad Rafique; a Sales Tax reference was filed by Collector of Customs, Sales Tax & Central against M/s Haji Mehmood Essa Corporation and others; and another customs duty reference was filed by Collector Customs against M/s People Enterprises. It is pertinent to mention that these case were filed during 2010-2011.
