SIALKOT: The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has expressed grave concerns over governments’ attempt to pass the controversial Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC) Bill 2015.

SCCI President Fazal Jillani has strongly opposed the decision for passing the bill.

SCCI press release revealed that the previous government also passed the GIDC in the Finance Bill 2011 which was challenged in various courts and all the chambers across the country also rejected the revision of GIDC last year, yet the government promulgated an ordinance in September, 2014 with the objective to overrule the stay granted by high courts.

Despite the strong opposition from the industrial sector across the country, such policies are being carried on which would destabilize the industry, SCCI President added.

He urged the government should refrain from devising such policies that impose threat to the industries.
