Scientific approach being taken to broaden tax net: Nisar Khan

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan has said that scientific and technical approach is being adopted to broaden the tax-net, hoping that such methods will increase the strength of taxpayers.

The chairman stated this while briefing the World Bank Country Director Pachamuthu Illangovan about the tax administration in a meeting.

The country director had called upon Finance Minister Ishaq Dar where Finance Secretary Dr Waqar Masood and Revenue Division Secretary, FBR Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan were also present.

The FBR chairman informed the World Bank official about the tax collection and the strategies, which have been designed by the FBR to meet the target.

It may be mentioned here that the World Bank and other international financial institution have shown concern over the low tax ratio in Pakistan. However, the ground realities are that the revenue collection of the country is increasing with every passing year.

The World Bank country director hoped that new team of the FBR will improve the performance of the department.
