CANADA: A mini ice-age will take place in 2030 thanks to 60 per cent fall in solar activity between 2030 and 2040.

Winter is coming. This might just become an appropriate phase soon, as scientists have predicted that a mini ice-age will take place in 2030 thanks to 60 per cent fall in solar activity between 2030 and 2040.

A report in The Independent, notes that the last mini-ice age “lasted from 1645 to 1715.”

The prediction and findings are part of a paper presented by Professor Valentina Zharkova at the National Astronomy Meeting in Llandudno, adds the report.

Zharkova’s team of researchers use a new model of “predict irregularities within the Sun’s 11-year heartbeat,” points out this report on Science Daily. The report on Science Daily adds, that the new model “draws on dynamo effects in two layers of the Sun, one close to the surface and one deep within its convection zone.”

The fluctuations in Sun’s activities were found 172 years back in 1843 with each cycle lasting around 10-12 years. However with the newer model scientists can predict the cycles more accurately.

The magnetic wave patterns as studied by Zharkova’s team indicate, that “Cycle 25, which peaks in 2022 and Cycle 26, from 2030 to 2040 will both have a significant reduction in solar activity,” which will lead to the mini-ice age.
