Scientists trace insects’ origin to 400m years ago

 BERLIN: More than 100 scientists across the globe are curious to know about the origin of major groups of insects therefore, they have put in their molecular, computational biology, palaeontology, and taxonomic expertise.

Using the genetic data, the study researchers traced the origin of insects to more than 400 million years ago. Team leader Bernhard Misof of the Zoological Research Museum Alexander Koenig in Germany shared that the two-thirds of all known animal species are insects.
