SDPT handles 1445,830 tons of cargo during November

SIALKOT: The Sialkot Dry Port Trust (SDPT) handled 1445,830 tons of cargo during the month of November 2016.

Official sources told Customs Today that the dry port handled 920,000 tons import and 525,830 tons export cargo during the month of November 2016. The imports items included scrap, leather material, stitching etc whereas footballs, surgical and musical instruments as well as gloves and leather garments were exported during the period of November 2016.

According to sources, imports and exports were not up to the mark during the months of September and October whereas the export increased in November 2016. In September the export was recorded at 290,331 tons and during October export was recorded at 310,401 tons.

Sources said that this industry is purely a seasonal industry whereas export from Sialkot reached its peak and import also increased this month. Sources said that customs department is extending full support to exporters and due to this industry is achieving fruitful results because surgical and musical instruments as well as kitchen items were exported from Sialkot to other countries. Sources further said that exporters of Sialkot usually go abroad to get orders for their export business in the off season. Sources said that the Sialkot is export-oriented city and it is hub of export but the exporters of Sialkot are adopting latest export and import process, therefore, they are getting better results.
