SDPT offers sales tax refund on fuel for exporters/importers

SIALKOT: The Sialkot Dry Port Trust (SDPT) again offered sales tax refund on fuel for exporters/importers of the region with tremendous logistics support and port handling services on competitive rates.

SDPT Chairman Khawar Anwar Khawaja, while addressing an important meeting said that it had always remained an eminent tradition of the port to serve and facilitate the industries of Sialkot, Gujranwala and Gujrat. Taking this goal ahead, the SDPT yet again offered a brilliant offer with tremendous logistics support and port handling services on competitive rates, he added.

He revealed that the fuel forms a substantial portion of overall cost of logistic expense, a part of which (sales tax on fuel) is refundable by virtue of law i.e. Rs. 29.57 per liter diesel. For instance, if 425 liters of diesel is consumed for an export consignment then Rs 12,567 (29.57 X 425) is refundable on account of sales tax refund by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) because exports are zero-rated for sales tax purpose.

Other services/core values of SDPT include the following; own fleet sdpt has its own fleet of 125 Custom Bonded vehicles which is the first largest carrier in private sector and 4th overall after the Pakistan Railways, National Logistics Cell and PIA, all three in the public sector.

Efficient port handling services under supervision of trained and competent workforce with 25-30 years of field experience which is proficient to handle dynamic operational requirements with expertise.

FMS-Fleet Management System ensures timely booking of vehicles and dispatch.

OMTS-Online Monitoring and Tracking System promises round the clock 27/4 spontaneous tracking of consignments with advanced tracker devices and route geo-fencing. Operational Monitoring Cell is busy in maintaining close liaison with drivers to ensure timely reporting and observance of road movements. Reporting is done every 8 hours via SMS alerts regarding Down-Country / Up-Country location updates are sent instantly.

PMP-Preventive Maintenance Program guarantees minimum enroute breakdown. Full-fledged and equipped workshops are established at different Down / Upcountry instances for en-route inspection of vehicles and to avoid any delay in case of break-down of vehicles. In case of accident, spare vehicles are dispatched for timely delivery of the cargo at destination

Chairman Khawar Anwar Khawaja narrated that three layer insurance policy provides safety covers in terms of an unfortunate monetary loss to the cargo. Insurance covers include:  SDPT Premises Insurance, Transit Insurance and Karachi Port Insurance till final loading on Vessel

Local Haulage Dry Port has its own Small vehicles / Tractor Trolleys to provide facility of local haulage at door steps of Exporters and Importers at least possible charges, he added.

Online Billing System for Exporters and Importers ensuring transparency. Secrecy of Documents SDPT maintains security codes on computers and thereby all the information of our clients is kept secret through HS Coding easily retrievable upon request of client.

He said that the other benefits available at Sialkot Dry Port Trust are    State of the art arrangements are available at SDPT for timely and smooth Stuffing / de- stuffing of cargo. Further, SDPT owns computerized Crane and Reach Stacker for quick loading and offloading of containers.  For security purposes, all activities are monitored with cameras round the clock and proper records are maintained. Security staff is deputed to examine every activity in field for surveillance of the whole process.  The Process of handling of export and import cargo from arrival to dispatch is entirely computerized as well as billing of all export and import to avoid manual errors. Sialkot   Dry Port has its own fleet of tractor cum trolleys to provide facility of local haulage on competitive rates.
