ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with Hult Prize Pakistan, Global Entrepreneurship Network, International Data Group (IDG) and Virgin Teez Pakistan organized a seminar on Startups where Mark Turrell, a Young Global Leader and Technology Pioneer at World Economic Forum shared his experiences with the participants on launching successful business startups. Mark Turrell is Professor of Strategy at Hult International Business School and Author of Book “Scaling: Small Smart Moves for Outsized Results”. He is also CEO of strategy consulting Orcasci.
Addressing the seminar, Sheikh Amir Waheed, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that Pakistan was experiencing youth bulge and millions of youngsters were entering job market every year, but were finding no proper jobs as market has not the capacity to absorb these youngsters. He said the best way to cope with unemployment issue was to engage youth in entrepreneurial activities so that they could play productive role for the country. He stressed that government should formulate conducive policies to foster youth entrepreneurship in the country that would also help in reducing unemployment and generating more economic activities.
Muhammad Naveed, Senior Vice President and Nisar Mirza Vice President ICCI said that Pakistani youth possessed good business ideas and was interested in business startups, but they needed capital and financial support to transform their business ideas into commercial products. They stressed that government should provide venture capital to the youngsters at affordable rate so that they could be facilitated in business startups.
Raffat Farid, Chairman, Young Entrepreneurs Forum of ICCI highlighted the role of his forum for promoting entrepreneurship in youth. He said that unemployed youth was always vulnerable to many negative activities and encouraging youth towards entrepreneurship was the best solution of such problems.
Mark Turrel said that Startup Grind was working to promote entrepreneurship in 300 cities of the world with the motto of changing the world towards better future. He said that every society offered great opportunities to entrepreneurs and stressed that Pakistani entrepreneurs should come up with best solutions to resolve the problems of society and excel in business field. Many youngsters attended the seminar and asked questions to Mark Turrel about how to launch successful business startups.
