Senate told 71 corruption cases surfaced in Customs

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar informed the upper House of the parliament that a total of 71 corruption cases surfaced in the Model Customs Collectorates at Customs House, Karachi i.e Appraisements (East & West), Preventive, Exports, Port Muhammad Bin Qasim and Exports Collectorate Muhammad Bin Qasim during the last five years (2009-2013).

In a written reply to a question of Senator Muhammad Talha Mehmood, the Finance Minister informed that details year basis of corruption cases surfaced in the Model Customs Collectorates at Customs House i.e Appraisements (East & West), Preventive, Exports, Port Muhammad Bin Qasim & Exports Muhammad Bin Qasim, Karachi during the last five years. The number of complaints against customs officers/officials was 15 in 2009, 19 in 2010, 17 in 2011, 13 in 2012 and number of complaints against customs officers/officials was 7 in 2013.
