Senior FBR official tested positive for COVID-19, Board closed till Monday

ISLAMABAD: FBR Secretary Projects Anwar Zeb tested positive for COVID-19 and Board’s headquarters closed down till Monday for disinfection.

The official of FBR who found positive of Coronavirus was working on 7th floor of FBR building so the high authorities ordered for fumigation/disinfection of whole building today (Thursday).

When FBR’s spokesman was contacted for comments, he said that suspected case was found at 7th floor and now the Chairperson FBR and Policy Wing are working while rest is closed and disinfection/fumigation will be done in the FBR. The FBR will be start full scale work from Monday, he added.

The number of cases with COVID-19 positive into FBR has been increasing. Earlier, 14 officials belonging to Regional Taxpayer Office (RTO) Quetta were found positive of this virus including Hamid Mehmood, Imran Aziz, Noman Latif, Adil Khan, Nadir Ali, Nazir Hussain Shah, Muhammad Saleem, Shah Mehmood, Abdul Fateh, Nisar Ahmed, Muhammad Ibrahim, Dilawar Khan, Muhammad Suleman and Muhammad Zubair.

One case of Covid-19 was appeared at Karachi Customs after which three employees of NBP Customs House Karachi tested positive. One case of COVID19 also found at I&I Lahore few days back. One FBR’s female official from Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU) Islamabad was also found COVID-19 positive as she was already admitted into hospital.
