Sh. Saeed elected as president FCCI unopposed

FAISALABAD. Sheikh Muhammad Saeed of M/s Kausar Processing was provisionally elected uncontested President of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI).

Addressing the press conference here, Mian Aftab Ahmed senior member of the FCCI election commission told that the electoral college for the office bearers of the FCCI was completed with the election of executive committee members.

He said that nomination papers for the post of president, senior vice president and vice president were received on September 26, 2016. He told that Sheikh Muhammad Saeed filled nomination papers for the top slot of President. Similarly Rana Sikandar Azam of Rao Corporation submitted his nomination papers for the office of Senior Vice President. Meanwhile, Mr. Ahmed Hassan of Chenab Engineering Works and Foundry filed nomination papers for the post of Vice President within the stipulated time frame.

Mian Aftab said that although one nomination paper each received yet these were securitized as per election schedule on September 27, 2016. He told that all these papers were found correct and hence now the polling for the election of the office of President, SVP, VP will not be held on September 29, 2016.  He further said that Sheikh Muhammad Saeed , Rana Muhammad Sikandar Azam and Ahmed Hassan has been elected President , SVP and VP respectively and provisionally . He further said that the official announcement of their election will be made during the AGM of the FCCI on Friday September 30, 2016.

Responding to a question, he said that the election commission tried its optimum best to conduct the election in a most transparent, fair and free manner. He also dispelled the notion that it was not election but was a mere selection and said that unanimous election of the office bearers is the collective decision of the business community of Faisalabad, as no other candidate had filled his nomination papers despite of the publication of election schedule in local newspaper .  He also congratulated the newly elected office bearers and thanked the business community for supporting them in conducting election in most transparent manner. The other members of the election commission Mr. Muzzamil Sultan and Rana Ikram ullah were also present during this press conference in addition to the other business leaders of the community.
