Shahbaz meets Turkish, Chinese investors

LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has held meetings with Turkish and Chinese investors to discuss prospects for investment in the province.

According to a press statement, the investors expressed interest in funding coal- and solid waste- based power projects. Investment opportunities in construction and transport sectors were also discussed in the meetings.

Zo Energy president Yu Yong and Albayrak Group chairman Ahmet Albayrak were part of the delegations. The chief minister said several projects initiated with Chinese and Turkish funding were underway. He said the government was committed to meeting deadlines for completion of projects in the energy sector. Albayrak chairman Ahmet Albayrak said his group had invested $10 billion in various projects in the province. He said the group was considering expanding its project portfolio to energy and construction sectors as well.

A Turkish investment group donated 750 bags of warm clothes for families affected by the October 26 earthquake. Group’s chairman Abdul Kadir Toran said Turks were grieved over the loss of lives and property in the earthquake.
