SHC adjourns hearing of petition filed by M/s China Textile Curtains & Blanket Industry

KARACHI: A Sindh High Court (SHC) custom appellate bench adjourned hearing of contempt petition filed by M/s China Textile Curtains & Blanket Industry till August 13, 2024.

During the hearing of petition, the petitioner sought amendment in IGM in respect of 28 consignments which were originally imported by Premium Textile Blanket Industry, Bara Bazar, KPK which is already faces FIR and other cases on alleged charge of abuse of Import Policy.

Counsel for the petitioner submitted that a review application has been allowed and customs is bound to amend the IGM in favor of the applicant under said order which is being flouted hence contempt is made out.

Khalid Mehmood Rajper counsel for Appraisement West contested and stated that petitioner was given a number of chance to submit required documents but they have failed to provide the same.

He further stated that the order passed in review petition has been complied with and request for amendment in IGM has been rejected on the basis of a reasoned order.

The counsel for custom waived notice and said he will be filing a reply to the contempt application for which time may be allowed. The bench granting the request and adjourned hearing of the case till August 13, 2023.
