KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has adjourned the hearing of a petition filed by M Shoaib against lodging of an FIR against him in an alleged mis-declaration case. A two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah was hearing the petition.
Earlier, counsel for the petitioner stated that petitioner is an importer, exporter and trader of agricultural products operating under the name and style of Hassan International and in this regard imported 23 metric ton of Asaliya Seeds from India on September 5, 2016. He filed goods declaration and fulfilled all the requirements. However, instead of releasing, the customs authorities seized the goods and lodged the FIR against the petitioner without any legal grounds.
Citing secretary Revenue Division, Directorate of Enforcement, Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation and investigation officer of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation as respondents, the petitioner pleaded that the court may restrain them from taking any coercive action against the petitioner.
It needs to be mentioned here that on the last date of hearing, the court had directed the customs authorities to release the consignment on deposit of Rs 737, 416 with the nazir of the court by way of pay order.
